Gold Rush

Dear Brighter Bothwell Volunteer,

Great news from the Beautiful Scotland Award Ceremony in Aberdeen.

You will be delighted to hear that the steady progress we have maintained over the last number of years has finally resulted in a GOLD award in the Beautiful Scotland Campaign!

We have once again come  ‘Best in Category’ in the Small Town Category.

To top it all we have been awarded the Keep Scotland Beautiful discretionary award, presented to the entrant that demonstrates consistency, significant progress from the previous year, and particular commitment to the Beautiful Scotland campaign themes.

As an added bit of spice, Nicole,  one of our Brighter Bothwell sunflower girls was chosen as Page 1 Girl in the Award Ceremony programme.

When the truck arrives from Aberdeen with all our awards, trophies and photographs, these will go on display in Mario’s Post Office window for all to see.  And keep an eye on our website www.brighterbothwell.comand Facebook pagewww.facebook.com/brighterbothwell for more information.

Awards such as these are not gained easily and are a tribute to the leadership and energy of Marjory our Chairperson, ably supported by you, our volunteers, who have each made your contribution in your various ways.

I think we may allow ourselves a moment to bask in the glow of our successes.  But not too long – the weeds don’t take time off!

Congratulations should also be extended to our good neighbours Uddingston Pride who also won GOLD and the trophy for the best Urban Community.  Well done Uddingston!

What a year!

Bill
